John G. "Jack" Gingrow Jr.
West Bath – John “Jack” G. Gingrow Jr., 59, also known as “Bird Man of Wiscasset” died suddenly on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.
He was born in Augusta on April 15, 1958, a son of John G. and Beverly A. (Brown) Gingrow Sr. Jack grew up in Woolwich and graduated from Morse High School in Bath in 1976. He joined the Carpenters Union 747 in New York and played semi-pro football. Later he joined the Millwright Union 1121 and the Marine Local 25 where he manned tugboats and barges at the land level transfer facility.
Jack had a gift in that he found beauty in everything; nature, sunsets and sunrises. With his gift he had a great passion for art. In his spare time you could find him with a rasp or a saw turning out beautiful wooden wildlife sculptures. He looked forward to retirement and getting an Art Studio to showcase his talent. Jack also enjoyed hunting, fishing, walks on the beach and spending time with his family and children. He was a passionate man with a caring heart.
He is survived by his parents, John “Juggy” and Beverly Gingrow Sr. of Woolwich, his wife, Melissa A. Gingrow of West Bath, two sons, John G. Gingrow III of New York and Noah Gingrow of West Bath, one daughter, Kaleigh Gingrow of West Bath, one brother, Tim Gingrow and his companion Lynn Waslowski of Bath, two sisters, Karen Danforth and her husband Frank of South Paris and Claudia Card and her husband Jack of Brunswick, mother in law, Robin Barton of Phippsburg, brother in law, Nicolas Mowry of New Hampshire, one special cousin, Tom Johnson and his wife Meredith of Edgecomb, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Jack was predeceased by his brother, Christopher K. Gingrow on September 18, 2000.
Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, April 6, 2018 at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High Street, Bath. A Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Daigle Funeral Home. Burial will be at Murphy’s Corner Cemetery in Woolwich at a later date. “Fly Jack Pie”
